Black Buffalo love living in a wide variety of different areas ranging from ponds, and lakes to rivers, while happy in ponds and lakes, they are just as much at home in a large river with fast currents and deep channels or even rapids.

Whatever body of water you go fishing for Black Buffalo in, remember that they tend to spend most of their time foraging for food near the bottom of the body of water they inhabit, and they are especially found hanging around underwater structures and debris such as submerged stumps, fallen trees and branches, and even rocky bottoms, where such food sources as small underwater crustaceans live and are moving around.

In their natural diet they tend to feed a lot on small crustaceans, and algae, small aquatic insects and even some tiny underwater vegetation. When fishing for them they are often taken on worms, nightcrawlers and crayfish.
